BioMABioMA (Biology and Conservation of Aquatic Mammals of the Amazon) is a research group from Universidade Federal do Pará, Pará State, Brazil. We have been conducting research in Eastern Amazon since 2012, always in partnership with local communities. For this project we teamed up with researchers from various institutions in Brazil (Mamirauá Institute for Sustainable Development, Universidade Federal do Amazonas and ECONSERV Instute), UK (University of St Andrews Sea Mammal Research Unit) and USA (University of Vermont) to gather data on the biology and conservation of botos in the Lower Tocantins River
